A MEWP should be checked before it is put into service. A practical pre-use inspection typically considers visible damage, tires or wheels, fluid leaks, guardrails, controls, emergency functions, safety devices and warning systems, while following the manufacturer’s instructions. Inspection is not a substitute for scheduled maintenance or formal examination. Its purpose is to identify obvious conditions that could make the machine unsafe before work starts.
